SERVICE TIMES

Sunday Morning Services: 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m.

Sunday School: 9:30 a.m.

Sunday School (HS and the Bridge): 11:00 a.m.

A Junior Church for children 5-9 years old is held during the 1st and 3rd services. A Nursery is available at all three services.

Kurt’s Sermon Notes-Galatians 2: 19-21 (8:00 and 11:00 AM): Last week we discussed that what we believe, our convictions, motivates our service. When we can experience something with our senses and emotions it is easier to believe in. But as we all know there are things in life that we may never get to experience so we have to accept them by “faith”. Those experiences that we accept by faith are experiences that many people have trouble accepting as well, so when our faith motivates our lives, others are amazed by the witness of our lives. A few examples; when life becomes difficult and how we handle it, how we look at our world and the people in it, and how people look at us. Can people tell that you are living out your faith in Christ Jesus?

Koen’s Sermon Notes-Proverbs 3:5-6 (9:30 AM): So many times we sit here and trust ourselves instead of trusting the creator of the universe. The guy who has all the answers is right at our doorstep but we choose to follow our own path. Sometimes the path the Lord has set for us is right in front of us and we decide we want to take a different route that seems more appealing! We’re going to look to the Lord for the guidance and direction that we need!

Just a Reminder- during the 9:30 Worship Service, there is also Sunday School classes available for Pre-School through 8th Grade for our youth and adult classes as well. The High School and The Bridge Sunday School classes meet during the 11 AM time frame.

The Dollar Club will meet this morning at 9:20 in Kurt’s office.

Do not forget the Building Fund in your giving.

Elders will be meeting on Tuesday evening at 7 PM.

The Administrative Ministry meeting will be Wednesday evening at 7 PM.

Men’s Breakfast will be Saturday morning at 8 AM.

Mark Your Calendars- The Eunice ladies will be meeting on Tuesday, October 13th at 6:30 PM. Kim Setzer is the hostess. Please bring your favorite Bible verse to share. All ladies are welcome to join us.

The Dollar Club-Please be looking for others that God can bless through us.

Operation Christmas Child- October gift ideas include everything that has been suggested over the last several months. Lists are available at the OCC table.

Bible Study –Our series “The Parables” by John Wick will end soon. Our new study will begin this month. Everyone is welcome to join us on Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM for a time of scripture, material study, prayer, and fellowship.

Help Wanted- We are growing and we need your help to continue to grow. We need workers in our nursery at all three services, and helpers for Jr. Church at the 8 AM and 11 AM services. If you are willing, please speak to Caitlin Stewart or any staff member.

Ridge Runners- Need a little help with a project around your home? Call the Church and ask if a Ridge Runner can help you. Brochures are in the foyer on the bulletin table.

Youth News!

BASK - We meet on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. Van transportation is available from Paris and Marshall schools.

Jr. High Youth Group - Sunday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

Sr. High Youth Group - Wednesday evenings at 6 PM.

Jr. Church ..is looking for volunteer teachers. Students dismiss before the sermon. Caitlin will be happy to answer any questions.

Mark Your Calendars - Trunk or Treat will be held Oct. 25th at 6 PM. There are sign-up sheets in the foyer for decorating trunks and for making desserts.

Kurt’s Sermon Notes-I Corinthians 15: 58 (9:30 AM): “Devotion without service is incomplete, and service without devotion lacks practical expression.” True spiritual maturity happens when a loving heart (devotion) naturally results in helpful hands (service). The Church would have no impact on the world if our beliefs and convictions did not motivate us to serve. And what good are deeds if we do not believe we are doing what Christ wants us to do. The New Testament Church was founded and grew because the people believed in the resurrected Christ; it motivated them to serve. Paul was a prime example of a convicted believer who served and gave his all for the cause of Christ. He challenged the early Church and us today in I Corinthians 15: 58, to be the Church that serves because they believe.

Don’s Sermon Notes-2 Timothy 4:1-5 (8:00 and 11:00 AM): Kurt has been placing a great emphasis on service this month, because service is what was modeled for us by Christ Jesus. Service is the expectation for those who follow Him in the lifestyle of discipleship. Service without the love of Jesus in our hearts doesn’t mean a whole lot. Spirit led service will lead others to Jesus. Many times we don’t feel comfortable with the work of an evangelist because we don’t know the words to say. Knowing an explanation and defense of the Gospel is important. Showing people what it means to follow Jesus by the way we love is more important. Tell people what you know about Jesus, why your life is better because Jesus is in it and let your light shine before mankind through your actions and service.
