SERVICE TIMES

Sunday Morning Services: 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m.

Sunday School: 9:30 a.m.

Sunday School (HS and the Bridge): 11:00 a.m.

A Junior Church for children 5-9 years old is held during the 1st and 3rd services. A Nursery is available at all three services.

Kurt’s Sermon Notes-Matthew 20:1-16 (8:00 and 11:00 AM): Jesus taught many lessons by using parables. A parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. In Matthew 20:1-16, Jesus tells a story that people of that era understood very well because it happened every year, the harvest of grapes from a vineyard. In the story we learn that the owner of the vineyard is looking for workers to help harvest his vineyard. He goes to the city square where people looking for work go in hopes that someone will hire them and he hires workers at different times of the day. At the end of the day, he pays his workers, but not all of them are happy with their pay. Jesus is teaching the people gathered and us that work should be carried out with gratitude and joy otherwise we will never be happy or content in our lives.

Don’s Sermon Notes-1 Peter 2:21-23 (9:30 AM): 1 John 4:20 say “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar.” This passage is a bold statement of clarity on how God feels about the way we love our neighbors, our brothers and sisters, those whom God has placed in our lives. Satan will often times use the offenses that we take to derail the work of God in our lives. Unforgiveness of others hinders our worship, our kingdom work and our personal forgiveness from God. Is there someone in your life whom you need to forgive and stop hating?

Just a Reminder- during the 9:30 Worship Service, there is also Sunday School classes available for Pre-School through 8th Grade for our youth and adult classes as well. The High School and The Bridge Sunday School classes meet during the 11 AM time frame.

Help- Parents, please remind your children to behave in an appropriate way during the period of time between First Service and Sunday School.

See You at the Pole is September 23rd at 7:45 AM at Paris High School, Mayo, and Crestwood. Join us and pray for our schools and our country.

Ladies Day at Kansas Christian Church on October 3rd. There is a flyer with more information on the bulletin board.

Compassionate Clothing Closet- we are serving in September. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer.

The Dollar Club- We selected Carol Sexton from Marshall to receive our gift from last month. We are out of nominations so please be looking for others that God can bless through us.

Operation Christmas Child- September gift ideas include harmonicas, yo-yos, kaleidoscopes, plastic HARD medium drinking cups and bowls.

Bible Study –Our series “The Parables” by John Wick has begun. Everyone is welcome to join us on Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM for a time of scriptures, material study, prayer, and fellowship.

Help Wanted- We are growing and we need your help to continue to grow. We need workers in our nursery at all three services, and helpers for Jr. Church at the 8 AM and 11 AM services. If you are willing, please speak to Caitlin Stewart or any staff member.

Ridge Runners- Need a little help with a project around your home? Call the Church and ask if a Ridge Runner can help you. Brochures are in the foyer on the bulletin table.

Youth News!

BASK - We meet on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. There is a sign-up sheet for BASK refreshments in the foyer.

Jr. High Youth Group - Sunday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

Sr. High Youth Group - Wednesday evenings at 6 PM.

‍Jr. Church …is looking for volunteer teachers. Students dismiss before the sermon. The curriculum will be provided to you two weeks ahead of time. Caitlin will be happy to answer any questions.

BASK IS BACK!

BASK began September 9th from 3:30 – 5:30 PM.

We’re excited to welcome kids back for another year of fun, fellowship, and growing in their faith! Each week, children will enjoy a snack, games & fun, worship, bible lesson, and crafts. BASK is a wonderful opportunity for children to build friendships, have fun, and learn more about Jesus in a safe and loving environment.

Important for Parents: Parents/guardians must send a written note to their child’s school giving permission for them to ride the church vans to Bell Ridge Christian Church after school.

We can’t wait to see our BASK kids and kick off another great year together!

Kurt’s Sermon Notes-Ephesians 4:11-16 (9:30 AM): William Law made a lasting impact upon 18th Century England with his book, “A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life.” In it, Law urges Christians that every day should be viewed as a day of humility. And how does he suggest that we do this? By learning to serve others. For any Church to grow, its members have to learn to serve. I believe that God has equipped His creation with talents and skills so that they can serve humanity. He also gives us the power and faith through His Holy Spirit. We serve a God that uses His creation’s efforts to do amazing things. But it starts when we decide to serve Him by serving others.

Don’s Sermon Notes-Romans 12:1-2 (8:00 and 11:00 AM): “Garbage in, Garbage out.” is true in so many areas of our lives. This is very true when it comes to our minds. Scripture tells us that we need to renew our mind if we want to know what God’s will is and to live it out. It starts by getting rid of the garbage that is in our minds replacing it with the goodness of God. What things have you been putting in your mind that get in the way of what God has for you?

Edgar County Brotherhood- everyone is welcome to attend on Tuesday at 7 PM at Kansas Christian Church.

Thank You to everyone that served and came to the All-Church Cookout last Sunday night. It was a beautiful evening of good food and fellowship. Thanks to John Brinkerhoff, Ben Furlong, and Matt Stone for grilling our hamburgers, pork burgers and hot dogs; they were great!
