What is Ladies Aid?

 

The Ladies Aid of the Bell Ridge Christian Church has been an active part of the congregation since it began.   The work of these faithful women goes largely unnoticed, yet they are an integral part of the church.  Over the years, one of the responsibilities of these women has been the preparation of weekly communion and also the maintenance of the supplies.  Until just a few years ago, the communion cups were glass and had to be washed and cared for weekly.  Many times the ladies would carry everything home for cleaning.  For many years, the Ladies Aid paid for the cleaning of the church building and the many supplies needed for the cleaning including new vacuum sweepers.  The ladies have also purchased many other items for the church building and parsonage, including paint, curtains, songbooks, Bibles and once they purchased a new water heater for the church…..

2Timothy 1:5 "I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grand mother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also."

The Eunice group was begun by Lincoln Christian College based on this scripture.  The students at the college are our "Timothies" and we are "Eunice" and encourage them as a mother would.      We send a monthly donation to the college as a whole and twice a year, we send a donation to help stock the Married Student Pantry. Many times it is a struggle for married students to make ends meet and they can go to the pantry for various household items and foods.   Also, we have expanded our purpose by each taking the name of a college student from our church or community and praying for and encouraging them through the year.
