Sermon Notes- July-October 2010
Sermon Notes July 18, 2010 Kurt Speece Last week we were discussing how our country needs God in its conversation and conscience to bring our country back to what our founding fathers intended and to restore our country to God’s gracious favor. And one of the points we discussed was that it has to start with each one of us, we have to desire God’s presence in our daily life. The Bible often describes that desire as thirst. Thirst is or can be a force in our lives physically, psychologically and emotionally; in fact water is essential to life. We need to recognize our need, find a safe source to drink from, and then as silly as it seems we need to drink in order to quench our thirst. The same can be said with our spiritual thirst or desire for God. So consider today your own desire for God; do you see the need, what source are you drinking from, and are you drinking in God’s grace and mercy in your daily life? Aug. 1 Guest Speaker Aug. 8 Guest Speaker Aug. 15 Kurt Speece People through out history have been known to do great and heroic feats out of desperation; from landing on the Hudson, to willing oneself to survival, to stunning comebacks in sports and life. When life gets tough, the tough get going; is a saying that we all have heard. We are inspired and motivated by these stories but I wonder how many of us question if we have with in us “the stuff” for a great story. The other question is motivation, none of us wish for difficult times so that we will be challenged but I believe that we all realize that there are “once in a life time opportunities” that we have to take advantage of despite the obstacles that arise. So the question is “What does it take to motivate you to get out of your comfort zone and do what you have to do to achieve your goal?” What is it that you want to see accomplished before your life is over? The souls of people are the only eternal thing on this earth. Are you concerned about the souls of the people that you love? What are you doing about them? Do not wait for desperate times. Be proactive and plan today to start loving and sharing the Gospel with the people that God has put in your life.
