Getting To Know You

Did you ever meet someone at Bell Ridge Christian Church and wish you had the opportunity to get to know them better?  Maybe you are kind of new to Bell Ridge and would like to get to know the folks around you better?  Perhaps you have been around Bell Ridge a long time and wish you could schedule a little more time to spend with your Christian friends.  Well, now is your chance!!

Getting to know you, is a voluntary program to encourage people to actually schedule a time in their busy routine to spend with other members of their Christian family.  It can also be used as a way for a small group of Christians to meet with someone in a friendly setting to encourage that person or persons to become a Christian or to grow in their Christian walk.

To participate everyone volunteers to be in the program.  This means you will have to fill out the little sign up card and turn it in to join the program (ask Kurt or George Orin for your card).  After identifying everyone who wants to be in the program, those people are assigned to their first "group of eight".  One person in the group of eight is also assigned to be the group coordinator.  The group talks about something they would like to do together.  The coordinator is responsible for making sure the group talks and finds something to do.

Each group has three months to meet for at least two different times or more.  Enjoying fellowship with your fellow Christians is the reason to be in the group.  Use your imaginations for ways to get together but keep the needs of others in mind.

Some suggestions for getting together:

Lunch after Sunday worship service.

Dinner at one of the group members home.

Dinner or lunch at a favorite restaurant.

Picnic at the park.

Eating is a big part of fellowship!

Breakfast at Mill Creek Cafe.

Lunch at Moonshine, but ride there and back with different folks.

Go boating together, just make sure it is a big boat.

Take a hike (this may not be for everyone).

Go to the Covered Bridge Festival, but change rides on the way back.

Have a progressive dinner party going to each members home.

Go to an auction together with a stop at the DQ afterwards.

Attend the Honey Bee Festival as a group.

Go fishing together.

Share family pictures and history.

Have tea and cookies at someone's home.

Remember, the idea is to have time to visit and to get to know each other.  Try to keep it simple.  Meeting at different homes is one of the best ways to get to know each other, but may not work for everyone.  And sometimes groups may not be able to get together, that does happen, but there is always next time!

Ok, that sounds about it!!
